The crippling loss of a child. The fear and uncertainty of caring for an aging parent. The helpless feeling of watching a loved one battle addiction. The emotional exhaustion of trying to make a difficult marriage work. The enormity of raising a child as a single parent. The overwhelming rigor of managing a full school load among many other responsibilities.
We’ve all experienced times in our lives when the pain or loneliness is so palpable, it feels like it might never subside. And if you haven’t, you will. While hard times might look different from one person to the next, there is one thing that remains true. We weren’t meant to face them all alone. Part of following Christ is walking beside others to lighten their load. At Blackhawk Church, one way we do this is through the One to One Caregiver program.
A One to One Caregiver is a Blackhawk volunteer who has received 50 hours of training in how to provide compassionate care. They don't wear capes and magically solve problems. They are not a counselor, therapist or mental health professional. What they are is a Christ-follower who intentionally walks beside, listens and supports a hurting person.
Will you answer the call of Galatians 6:2? If you are a good listener and have noticed that others seek you out when they need comfort, this could be a great serving opportunity for you. Join us for a One to One Care informational meeting this weekend to learn more.
