Our Shared Story: The History of Blackhawk Church Registration

In this course we’ll cover some of the key themes and events that have shaped the story of Blackhawk Church. We’ll learn about immigration to the Midwest, the history of the Evangelical Free Church, the city of Madison, and the transformation of Blackhawk from a neighborhood congregation to the largest church in Dane County. Of course, we’ll also talk about the three buildings that Blackhawk has called home, the founding generation of Blackhawkers beginning in the 1960s, and we’ll revel at the changing styles of clothing, haircuts, and church bulletins over the decades!

When we weave the strands of history together, they make up our shared Blackhawk story. Knowing more about Blackhawk’s story can give us new insights into our personal faith journeys and our own sense of belonging to this community. We’ll also gain a shared appreciation for where our church has come from and where we can go.
