Fall Course: Examining Whiteness Registration

Most white people don't think of themselves as having a cultural identity, but they do! And for white people, learning more about whiteness as a cultural identity is crucial as we strive to build a multicultural community here at Blackhawk and learn to navigate a multicultural world. A growing disciple does not lose their culture; their sanctified culture is part of their identity in the Kingdom of God. We will explore different aspects of our cultural identity and how it impacts the people around us through a study of Scripture and using a Biblical worldview. We'll cover a different aspect each week, and break up into smaller groups to go deeper. God envisions a multicultural kingdom. We are one people, free to fully express our distinct ethnic cultures, who worship God in loving community with each other. This is the foundation for building deeper relationships in this multicultural church community. We recognize the need for people of various cultures to enjoy times and spaces to share common language, foods, traditions, values, and sense of home that they may not get to experience on a daily basis living as a minority within a majority culture. We recharge, support one another, and celebrate what God is doing in our culture. Due to the focus of this group's content, this group is for anyone who identifies as white. If you identify as non-white please consider the course "Knit Together"
