Youth Mentors - Mentoring Connections - MUM

Opportunity:
Mentor youth impacted by parental incarceration. Must be able to meet with youth weekly and at least 21 years of age.

Mentoring Connections envisions a community in which every youth experiences a nurturing one-to-one relationship, which in turn allows each of them to develop their full potential to become responsible members of the community. Mentoring Connections matches youth impacted by parental incarceration with a caring, adult mentor. Mentor matches spend time with each other each week and develop a connection that can stick with both the youth and the volunteer for a lifetime.

Who we are:
Madison Area Urban Ministry (MUM) is a non-profit interfaith organization whose many programs inspire hope for individuals returning to the Dane County community after incarceration by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from fully participating in our community and the lives of their families. MUM offers an array of direct services programs for individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system, including prison reentry programming, services for children who have an incarcerated parent, community events designed to help people understand what it’s like to walk in the shoes of someone newly released from prison, and jail and prison in-reach programming.
