Healing House Hospitality - MUM

Opportunity:
Healing House, located at 303 Lathrop Street in Madison, is an 8 bed facility, providing 24/7 recuperative care by medically trained staff and volunteers for up to 28 days. Healing House will provide clients with three meals a day, child care assistance and case management to end the cycle of homelessness.

Healing House Make our House a Home Team members are responsible for -
• Maintaining a clean and safe atmosphere for Healing House guests (helping with meal preparation and clean up, doing laundry, changing linens in guest rooms, sweeping, mopping, and other household cleaning)
• Engaging with Healing House guests, both adults and youth, on a regular basis (Talking, socializing, helping youth with homework, rocking babies, playing with toddlers, etc.)
• Supporting Healing House staff as needed (reporting supply/food inventory, for example)

Volunteers are placed each term, January-June and July-December, with the opportunity to renew/continue. Must be over 18 years of age.

Madison Area Urban Ministry (MUM) vision is "standing with the poor and hurting of Dane County, neighbors working together for social change."

What we do:
MUM offers an array of direct services programs for individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system, including prison reentry programming, services for children who have an incarcerated parent, community events designed to help people understand what it’s like to walk in the shoes of someone newly released from prison, jail and prison in-reach programming, and an on-site emergency food pantry.
